Welcome to my blog, TheSkinnyBuzz!
Obviously my passions are health, fitness and nutrition, so I set out to make a one-stop shop for the latest and greatest in getting in shape and making you the best YOU. Through my blog, I share top news, trends, tips, recipes and more to help motivate YOU to get moving!
Backing up 15 years, I started as a somewhat overweight child. By middle school, I was sick of the “mean girls” and decided to make a change. I quickly found that there was a completely different life on the other side, one full of energy, happiness and a *sexy* bod Now, I’m in the best shape of my life, and I want to use my experience and passion to educate and motivate you to achieve your fitness dreams too.
I have been a group fitness instructor since 2005, teaching a variety of different classes from boxing and cycle to yoga and strength training. I started my blog in college as TheCollegeSkinny to help students prevent the inevitable “freshman 15″ and counteract all the late-night partying and booze. After college, I morphed my blog into TheSkinnyBuzz tailoring it more to men and women of all ages! Outside of TheSkinnyBuzz, I’m a publicist for some of the top athletes and celebrity trainers in the country, and am a member of the Storm Squad for North Carolina’s NHL team, the Carolina Hurricanes. I also am the health and beauty correspondent for NBC’s Raleigh affiliate, as well as a fitness columnist and fashion reporter for the state-wide Triangle.com and News & Observer print and online publications. I have a knack for fashion and style too so you can read my fashion shenanigans as the Triangle’s fashion reporter for The Examiner. Currently, I am studying to become a full-time nutritionist and life coach.
For more on me, TheSkinnyBuzz, my role on the Storm Squad and in the community, read my recent interview, “Seven Questions with Carrie Riggin” published by the News & Observer. I was also recently included in a feature highlighting the most inspiring fitness folks of 2012 via The Fitness Champ. What an honor!
Thanks for reading! I am truly blessed to have the life I have and hope that I can motivate you to reach for your dreams too, no matter what they are.
